Gilas Youth wins SEABA U16 qualifiers gold after crushing Indonesia

MANILA, Philippines—The Gilas Pilipinas Youth barely broke a sweat in notching the Fiba U16 Asia Cup Seaba Qualifiers gold medal at the expense of Indonesia.
On Friday night, the Philippines capped off its undefeated run en route to the gold medal with a dominant 70-40 win over the visiting Indonesians at Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga.

Gilas Youth opened the gold-medal game with a 21-5 opening salvo and never looked back, sending Indonesia to a second-place finish.
Jhustin Hallare became the main man for Gilas Youth in their final game for the gold with 13 points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal in 17 minutes of action.
Carl Gabriel Delos Reyes also turned in a double-double effort of 11 points and 13 rebounds in the victory.

No one on the Indonesian side finished in double-digits but Miracle Christiano led the team with nine points and three rebounds.
Benjamin Hernusi, who impressed in their first bout with the Philippines with 23 points, was limited by the Gilas Youth’s defense with just eight points and six rebounds this time around.
At the end of the Philippines’ dominant run in the Seaba qualifiers, the Gilas Youth squad, headed by LA Tenorio finished with a perfect 6-0 record.
