MANILA, Philippines — Lorraine Pecaña is out to repay the trust of Choco Mucho in her first playoffs appearance in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
Pecaña, who recently recovered from a right ankle injury, nailed three blocks for six points to help the Flying Titans reach the quarterfinals with a 25-22, 25-22, 25-23 sweep of Chery Tiggo on Saturday at Philsports Arena.
“The trust coach showed when he picked me, I always carry that with me whenever I play. He didn’t know me personally, we didn’t have any connection, but he trusted me during the draft. He just saw me and decided to bring me onto the team,” Pecaña said in Filipino.

“The trust they all have in me, including my teammates, is something I take with me every game.”
Pecaña, the No.11 overall pick out of Arellano, was also determined to contribute after sustaining an injury in their match against Akari last February 8 that sidelined her for a game and limited her minutes against Chery Tiggo in Passi Iloilo.
“I missed two games due to an injury. I kept thinking, ‘Will I be able to come back quickly?’ I pushed through and trained hard for it. I wanted to show it in the game because I was already doing it in training, so why not in the game?” said Pecaña.

“That’s what I kept thinking—that I had to fight for this game because if we didn’t, we might lose all the hard work and sacrifices in the preliminary round.”
The former NCAA stalwart will continue to hold onto coach Dante Alinsunurin’s system and the whole team’s trust as they face the winner of the PLDT-ZUS Coffee qualifying game in a best-of-three series.
“I think the feeling we have now will carry us into the next round. If we win today, we’ll keep winning the next games,” she said.
